Wisconsin based, privately owned meat packing and processing company, American Foods Group LLC, broke ground in September on their new, 775,000 square foot meat processing plant located in Warren Missouri. This new facility, which they are calling America’s Heartland Packing LLC, is projected to create more than 1,300, high-paying jobs and have an expected $1 billion economic benefit for the region, according to Steve Etcher, business development manager for the Greater Warren County Economic Development Council.
Heartland Packing will process about 2,400 head of cattle per day and include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, loading docks and more. The proximity of this plant to local farmers will give them opportunity to feed their cattle for a few more months before selling them which will bring higher prices and reduce the cost and energy needed to transport the beef to processing plants farther away.
Ultimately, welcoming AFG’s major development will benefit the number one industry in Missouri, agriculture, for many years to come.
